May 2, 1926 – May 20, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news that Anna Maria Almond passed away on May 20, 2020 at the Misericordia Hospital after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19. Anna was born in Weinberg, Austria in 1926 and moved to Haslingden, England, in 1948 where she met her husband, Vincent. They immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling in the Edmonton region where she has lived for the past 68 years. She was predeceased by her father (Franz), mother (Aloisia), brother (Felix), sister (Aloisia), and husband (Vincent).
Anna will be forever in the hearts of and lovingly missed by her sons David and Roland (Danielle), and her six granddaughters Jennifer, Janice, Heather, Renee, Elise and Celine, as well as close friends and relatives in North America and Europe.
We give special thanks to the staff of the 7 West and 8 West wards of the Misericordia Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time, keeping her comfortable during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Anna’s name to Kids with Cancer or the Edmonton Humane Society. The family is arranging a memorial service which will be streamed online so her family and friends in Europe and North America can share in celebrating her life.
