St. Albert, Alberta

It’s with broken hearts that we share the passing of Graeme Aaserud, who died on May 30, 2025, at the age of 50 following a sudden brain injury.

Graeme lived hard and loved deeply. He was proud of his Norse roots and his “Viking” strength. He filled rooms with music, brought horror films to family nights and had a gift for making people laugh—even when they didn’t want to. Bold, loyal and full of contradictions, he left a lasting mark on everyone who truly knew him.

He is survived by his fiancée, Allison Overton; his sister, Kara Aaserud; his niece and nephew, Everly and Asher; and the kids he loved like his own—Preslie, Madison, Eris, Evalyn and Daisy. He is also remembered by his father, Barry Aaserud, and stepmother, Joyce Luyckx—and the close friends who truly knew him.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, 57 Stanley Drive. A casual gathering will follow to share stories and remember Graeme together.

Skål, Graeme. You were one of a kind. We rest in peace knowing you are safe and whole in the arms of Jesus.
