KELOWNA, B.C. — The Kelowna Rockets have fired head coach Adam Foote just three months before they host the Memorial Cup. Assistant coach Kris Mallette has been named interim head coach.

TORONTO — It looks like Canada may face a different qualification path for future Rugby World Cups. Canada coach Kingsley Jones says World Rugby is looking at using the Americas Rugby Championship as the qualifier for the region.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have called up defenceman Evan Bouchard from the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors and have placed defenceman Oscar Klefbom on injured reserve. The Oilers also assigned forward Markus Granlund to Bakersfield.

Low on bodies, the Toronto Wolfpack have got some temporary roster help in the form of French international Tony Gigot. The 29-year-old, who played for Catalan Dragons last season, joins the transatlantic rugby league team on a four-week trial basis.
