Tuesday's first-place tilt in the St. Albert Women's Soccer League brought out the very best in Mavericks 09.

After a one-year absence the St. Albert Impact Rangers are playing to stay in premier for another season. In the round robin schedule the Rangers finished seventh with three wins, two losses and a startling six ties.

The St. Albert Tigers are on a mission as the host team for the senior AAA provincial championship.

The peewee AAA St. Albert Cardinals came up just short of advancing to westerns. At the provincial championship tournament in Spruce Grove, the Cardinals lost their semifinal 9-5 to SEEBA.

The midget AAA St. Albert Cardinals finished off their run at provincials with a win at Legion Memorial Park, just not in the tournament final.

The St. Albert Tigers are up to bat Friday as the host team for the Baseball Alberta senior AAA provincial championship at Legion Memorial Park. The first game for the Tigers in the round robin draw is 11 a.m.

St. Albert heptathlete Niki Oudenaarden is striving for perfection at the Royal Canadian Legion nationals.

The St. Albert Angels ’94 finished the Bantam Girls Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Victoria with one win in six games. In the round-robin draw, the Angels scored 16 runs and gave up 43 runs.

The host committee for the 2011 World Financial Group Continental Cup of Curling is ahead of the game with volunteer support.

Storm United can distance itself from the rest of the pennant contenders in the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League next week by beating the main challengers.
