St. Albertans may see the first snowflakes of the season fall over the first weekend of October as the Weather Network's long-term forecast shows minimal snowfall is expected.

Less than a centimetre of snow is expected to fall on Saturday, Oct. 7, as well as Oct. 8 and 9.

The forecasted snow comes as temperatures are expected to drop and stay below 10 degrees for daytime highs starting Oct. 4, and continuing on until at least Oct. 11.

According to a Global News Edmonton report at the time, the first snowfall last year in the Edmonton region didn't occur until early November.
