The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you. Help this organization to find out how many homeless are living in Edmonton. Volunteer either as an enumerator to walk the streets and conduct the housing survey, or help with data entry behind the scenes. The count is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 5, spread over 15 hours and volunteers can choose one or more shifts throughout the day.

Help to welcome newly posted families to the Edmonton Garrison by extending some community hospitality to these new families. Volunteers are needed to help with the barbecue and make and bag popcorn on Friday, Sept. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Do you enjoy working on the telephone? Help this organization to get the word out about their upcoming gala event, which takes place Oct. 1.

Habitat for Humanity is currently building in Edmonton and Stony Plain and needs your help. This is a great opportunity to get involved, learn new skills and work in a team. Skill range can be anything from beginner to trained trades people; orientation and training will be provided for all. Sign up as an individual or as part of a group. Join and experience the satisfaction that comes from lending your hands and heart to a family in need.

Come out and help raise awareness of autism at the third annual Edmonton Capital Region Walk Now for Autism at Rundle Park on Sept. 12. Assistance is needed on event day with registrations, course monitoring, set up/tear down and food distribution.

Our St. Albert Steel hockey team is looking for volunteers as they gear up for the upcoming season. Help on game days throughout the season, commit to one game or as many games as you would like. Assistance also needed for the tailgate party at the season opener game on Sept. 10 and preparations leading up to the event.

Are you a female who enjoys working with girls and youth? Become a leader and help young girls, ages five to 15, achieve greatness. Guiding has something for everyone and offers the widest range of activities of any volunteer experience for women in Canada. Lead weekly unit meetings Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, at various school and clubhouse locations in St. Albert. Minimum age for junior leaders is 14 years and for leaders is 18 years.

Help to keep the good work and memory of Terry Fox alive, and volunteer at this annual volunteer-led event, Sunday, Sept. 19. Assist with registration, pledge table, course monitoring, or set up/take down.
