Will you be between the ages of two and four months in October? Start family volunteering early as you and your parent visit elementary school classrooms to help children learn about empathy and getting along with each other. You will assist a trained facilitator who will lead the discussion with the class. This program needs a commitment of one one-hour visit each month from October to June 2011.

Are you friendly and do you enjoy people? Help this vibrant and contemporary arts organization by becoming a bingo volunteer for them on Wednesday, Sept. 8 during afternoon or evening bingo. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Would you like to help make a difference in the life of a child? Seamstresses are required to help repair some new toys that are split at the seams, which will then be given out to children in need. The short-term project starts immediately and ends Oct. 31. Hours are flexible and you can do the work in your own home.

Calling painters, sculptors, woodcarvers, florists, musicians, singers, photographers, actors and other artists to share your talents with students during this school’s Alberta Arts Day on Sept. 17. Amateurs or professionals are welcome and can either have a display already made or can be actively working on a project during the event. No formal presentation is required, just a willingness to set up, be creative and answer questions from students.

Do you have excellent interpersonal skills and are you familiar with the community of St. Albert and its residents? Use your skills and connections to help obtain donations for the upcoming Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games in February 2011. Assistance also needed with fundraising projects and sponsor recognition. Flexible hours are available starting now and continuing until the games.

Are you good with computers and do you have bookkeeping skills? This organization needs assistance one day a week, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with this type of work.

Are you friendly and outgoing? Help to raise funds and awareness for the fight against diabetes by selling 50/50 tickets at Edmonton Capitals baseball games at Telus Field. The event dates are Aug.19, 20, 21 and 22. Alternatively, choose to help in the fight against juvenile diabetes by selling 50/50 tickets at the Northlands horse races on Sept. 10, 17 and 24. Volunteers have the chance to meet the feature charity racehorse and have a photo opportunity. You must be minimum 18 years of age.
