Volunteer for a week in July at one of the family camps organized by this inner city agency for its clients. This is an excellent opportunity to develop or further enhance leadership, social and interpersonal skills. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
Do you have some plumbing or electrical experience? If so, would you be willing to help this organization on an on-call basis or on the occasional weekend? Call and assist this organization in this maintenance role.
Do you enjoy books and working with children of all ages? Help children go through the library Summer Reading Game, assisting them with various activities along the way. Volunteers must have completed a minimum of Grade 9. Program runs June 28 to Aug. 16. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, approximately three or four hours each, with lots of flexibility to fit with your schedule and summer holidays.
Are you creative with face paints and enjoy children? Volunteer at this children’s carnival on Thursday, July 15 in St. Albert. Event happens midday for a few hours and volunteers should be a minimum age of 14 years.
Show your pride in the Canadian Forces and help to broaden their exposure in our communities by assisting with the sale of Yellow Ribbon merchandise at various venues throughout St. Albert and Edmonton. Venues include Capital EX site on July 23 and the Edmonton Indy July 23 to 25, as well as other community events.
Do you have some experience in grant writing and the non-profit sector? Help this organization in the research and application process for government grants to help fund this most worthwhile organization and its events. This is a short-term project until September with flexible hours and work location.
Do you love reading, enjoy crafts and games and have good communication skills? Assist the Garrison Library with their summer program “Destination Jungle,” July 14 to Aug. 25 on Wednesday afternoons. Volunteers should be at least 15 years of age and have some knowledge and/or interest in the military community.
Be a part of this very popular Edmonton summer festival. There are a wide variety of volunteer positions available including ticket sellers, selling raffle tickets, greeting patrons at all entry sites, working the information booth, security, volunteer tent and helping at the Safeway Family Pancake Breakfast. Festival takes place July 23 to Aug. 1. Many four-hour shifts to choose from.
