After a months-long trial, Travis Vader was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of St. Albert residents Lyle and Marie McCann in July 2010.

Justice Denny Thomas read a summary of his 131-page judgment Thursday morning in front of a packed Edmonton courtroom. Thomas' judgment was also broadcasted live on television, radio and streaming online video.

Thomas ruled that there wasn't enough evidence to conclude that Vader had planned to kill the McCanns, but did conclude that Vader had intended to cause harm to the McCanns and committed murder beyond a reasonable doubt.

The bodies of the McCanns were never found.
