St. Albert's COVID-19 case rate similar to week prior: province

St. Albert's COVID case numbers are similar to what was reported last week, according to the province.

Between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15, there were 29 new COVID cases in St. Albert, the province reported on Aug. 17. There were 28 cases the week prior.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people in St. Albert was 41.7, a slight increase from 40.2 — seven-day case rate per 100,000 the week prior.

There were no new COVID deaths in St. Albert. The total number of St. Albertans who have died from COVID remained at 88.

Sturgeon County COVID cases also remained stable. The province reported nine new COVID cases from Aug. 9 to Aug. 15. The province also reported nine cases in the county the week prior.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people in Sturgeon County was 32.2 between Aug. 9 and 15. Data from the province the week prior showed the seven-day case rate per 100,000 people was 28.6.

There were no new deaths reported in Sturgeon County. The number of residents who have died from the virus remained at 18.

COVID cases in Morinville decreased.

There were four new COVID cases from Aug. 9 to Aug. 15. The province reported six COVID cases for the week prior.

The seven-day-case rate per 100,000 people in Morinville dropped to 35, as reported by the province on Aug. 17. The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people was 52.6 the week prior.

The number of people who have died from COVID in Morinville remained at 16.

The number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19 increased by 70. The province reported 818 hospitalizations between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15. The province reported 748 hospitalizations the week prior.

Data from the province showed the number of people in ICU with COVID remained at 28, current from Aug. 15.

The per-cent positivity decreased to 21.93 per cent, down from 23.73 per cent reported by the province the week prior.

Twenty-seven more people died from COVID in the province between Aug. 9 and Aug. 15.

As of Aug. 15, 4,721 Albertans have died from the virus.
