The City of St. Albert has issued a fire advisory effective Friday, May 9 at 9 a.m., citing dry weather, wind, and increased fire risk.

While permitted fires are still allowed under the current advisory, residents are being urged to use extra caution. The city warns that a fire restriction or full ban could be issued if conditions worsen.

St. Albert Fire Services is asking residents to help reduce the risk by following safe fire practices, particularly when using wood-burning firepits. These must have a valid permit, be operated with a screen spark arrestor, and be fully extinguished before being left unattended.

Residents are also reminded to properly dispose of smoking materials, including cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches, and lighters. The use of unauthorized fireworks or pyrotechnics remains prohibited at all times within city limits.

The advisory also applies to propane and natural gas appliances, which should be operated with care.

St. Albert Fire Services is actively monitoring fire conditions and will provide updates as necessary. For the latest fire status, visit stalbert.ca or albertafirebans.ca. In case of a fire, call 911 immediately.
