RCMP continue to investigate firearms incident

St. Albert RCMP is continuing to investigate a firearms incident in Northridge.

On Oct. 28, at about 12:10 a.m. St. Albert RCMP were called to a residence in the Northridge area about a male with a firearm, according to an RCMP press statement released on Nov. 2.

Police set up a perimeter during the event and residents were evacuated for safety.

A male exited the residence with life threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to an Edmonton hospital.

The man is in serious but stable condition.

According to the RCMP statement, the RCMP did not discharge any firearms or use physical force during the course of the event. The RCMP Emergency Response Team was deployed to assist St. Albert RCMP members during the event.

“St. Albert RCMP take firearm calls seriously and investigate thoroughly, as such occurrences can have a significant impact on surrounding residents and our community’s feeling of safety.  St. Albert Victim Services Unit has been engaged to assist and have reached out to those impacted by the situation,” the statement read.
