A 26-year-old man is being held in custody following a string of broken windows in the Grandin area.

Adam Troy Ridell, 26 is facing nine counts of mischief and will make his first court appearance on Monday in St. Albert.

On Tuesday nine vehicles were found damaged throughout the Grandin area and in the parking lot at Village Landing and the Sturgeon Plaza. Const. Janice Schoepp said the damaged vehicles did not have anything taken from them.

She said police were alerted and were able to track down the man.

“Someone had actually seen him and so they located him that way and I believed they just followed the trail.”

She said when police arrested Riddell he had a screwdriver and shovel with him.

Police are still investigating another series of incidents that happened on Nov. 25, when police received 25 separate reports of smashed vehicle windows all across the city. In that case there were also no reports of anything being taken after the windows were smashed.

Schoepp said while similar, there is no evidence currently to link the vandalism on the two separate days.

She said police are still hoping someone can come forward with more information about the incident.

“We are looking for someone who may know who is responsible or have some information, or if there is anyone else who didn’t report the damage to their vehicle.”

Anyone with that information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the St. Albert detachment at 780-458-7700.
