On Wednesday morning around 7:40 a.m. a vehicle was stolen from Glaewyn Estates area.
The 2004 Silver Dodge Dakota pickup was taken after the owner started the vehicle and left the keys inside with the door unlocked.
Later that day the Morinville RCMP received a report of the missing truck stuck in an open field near Silver Chief Estates in Sturgeon County. Two men had returned to the stuck truck with a second pickup with the intention to tow out the wedged vehicle. Once the culprits knew the police were on their way, they took off in the dark coloured, newer Ford pickup.
The driver of the truck is described as a Caucasian male in his late 20s who was wearing a dark baseball hat. The passenger was a Caucasian male with a slight build, narrow face and short dark brown hair. He is suspected to be in his early 20s and was wearing a grey jacket and jeans.
The police would like to remind the public to be cautious of crimes of opportunity as the city braces for winter weather. Police advise motorists should not leave cars unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition.
On Thursday another vehicle was stolen from the St. Albert community. This time a flat-deck welding truck was taken overnight from the Edward Way area. The vehicle is a 2004 white Ford Super Duty truck with the licence plate DEJ 960. It has white welding cabinets, reels and clamps and a grey Lincoln 300 AMP diesel welder on the back.
On Thursday Oct. 6 a black Jeep Compass was involved in a hit and run involving a sign.
The SUV backed up quickly towards the doors of the 7-Eleven on Akins Drive and knocked over a metal framed sandwich-board sign. When the employee came out to help the two men in the vehicle pick up the sign, she noticed a plastic bag covering the licence plate and became suspicious. The bag had slipped off the plate exposing an Alberta plate number BWD 9426 but the number did not match with any known vehicle.
The first suspect is described as a native male wearing dark clothing, a black hat and jogging pants with a yellow stripe. The second male is described as native and wearing a grey jacket and jeans.
