On Wednesday Sept. 14, a 63-year-old man was walking his dog and was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Eldorado Drive, just past English Way.

The man was not using the crosswalk when he was hit by a black BMW travelling westbound. He was transported to the Royal Alexandra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is unknown if the dog was hit, but the dog ran away after the collision.

The RCMP say the angle of the setting sun may have been a contributing factor in the collision.

The 53-year-old driver of the BMW was given a ticket for careless driving, with a fine of $543, and another for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence, which carries a fine of $310.

The pedestrian received a ticket for Crossing the Roadway at Point Other than Crosswalk/Fail to Yield to Motor Vehicle, which carries a fine of $78.
