Two teenage boys were assaulted and robbed on Friday Sept. 2 on the path between W.D. Cuts School and Bertha Kennedy School.

A 14-year-old male and 15-year-old male were walking along the path at 3 p.m. and were approached by two males. The victims moved out of the way to let the suspects pass but rather than walk by they grabbed the boys. One boy was pushed off his bike and then a suspect proceeded to kick and punch him. The second boy was told to leave and fled to get help.

A 2016 A5 Samsung phone with a carbon fibre case was stolen, along with a backpack, keys and a black, green and grey Haro BMX bicycle with distinctive green rims. The items have not been recovered yet.

“I think in turning over his items that may have prevented further assault,” Cst. Beth McIntosh said.

The first suspect is described as a male between 17 and 20 years old. He is Caucasian with acne and a muscular build. He has a pointy nose with small lips and large ears. At the time of the crime he was wearing a black folded hat, red shoes, black skinny jeans with work gloves in the back pocket and a black hooded sweater.

The second suspect is a male between the ages of 17 and 20. He is described as Caucasian with a muscular build and was wearing a cord-like necklace, a white/grey shirt, black shoes and black jeans at the time of the crime.

“It was during the daytime and it was in a well-lit, open area so this may have been what we consider a crime of opportunity,” McIntosh said.

Anyone with information about these or any other crimes is asked to contact St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
