The St. Albert police are trying to identify the culprit of an ATM theft that took place in the early morning on Aug. 30.
At 4:50 a.m. a truck backed through the wall of the Esso gas station at 220 St. Albert Trail, causing extensive damage to the building.
Along with leaving a gaping hole in the side of the convenience store, the ATM was stolen. The machine was recovered only a few hours later at 11:30 a.m. in the Stony Plain area with damage to the device.
The suspect is described as a six-foot tall stocky male who was wearing all black and a balaclava. A white truck was seen in the area around the time of the crime.
Police are warning the public about a scam that was pulled off in Canadian Tire on Aug. 13.
A man walked into Canadian Tire and made small purchases using a $100 bill. He requested many small transactions to confuse the employee. The culprit managed to walked away with almost double the amount presented for change.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male of average build between 25 and 35 years old. Police encourage cashiers to handle one transaction at a time to prevent being swindled.
