St. Albert RCMP was called to an address in Akinsdale area Saturday morning, at approximately 9:40 a.m., to respond to a suspicious man sitting on a resident’s front porch.
After the officers arrived the man began to convulse and lost consciousness. The officers helped the man to the ground, placed him in the recovery position and called Emergency Medical Services.
While trying to identify the man, RCMP found drugs in his pockets.
The 38-year-old St. Albert resident is being charged with possession of illegal drugs. As of press time, his name had not been released because charges had not yet been sworn.
A rock was thrown through the windshield of a white 2005 Toyota Tundra truck between 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 and 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 24. The truck was parked on Flagstone Crescent in St. Albert.
The St. Albert RCMP received two reports of thefts from lockers at the Fountain Park Recreation Centre over the weekend.
At approximately 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, a male adult resident found the lock missing from his locker, along with his wallet, ID and cell phone.
Within minutes, another male adult reported that his locker had been broken into. The lock was missing, along with a bag containing his identification, passport and credit cards. The credit cards were cancelled, but not before being used fraudulently by the criminal.
The RCMP are reminding residents that gym and pool lockers are big criminal targets and to leave valuables at home or within your sight.
On Friday July 22, Can-West Electrical Contractors, located on Riel Drive, reported its second break and enter in one month.
The electrical contracting company was missing a Champion Watt generator and truck straps. A security camera caught the criminals on tape. Both are males, one is described as skinny.
Earlier this month, a lone culprit broke into the business and stole power tools from a company vehicle. The male described as skinny, weighing approximately 130 pounds and in his late teens to early 20s, left the scene on a BMX bike. The crime took place between late afternoon on July 5 and 7 a.m. on July 6.
The St. Albert RCMP is reminding residents to remove valuables and electronics from their vehicles after three separate thefts from vehicle complaints last Friday.
On July 22, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. there were three reported thefts in the areas of Larkspur Crescent and Lawrence Crescent. The thieves took loose change, a wallet and garage door openers.
No items were reported stolen from the garages, but Const. Beth McIntosh warned that “garage door openers, typically clipped to the sun visor while your car is parked in your driveway are like handing the keys to the house to a would-be thief.”
The RCMP provided the following tips to avoid being victimized: lock your doors; keep your car tidy; stow away or remove all electronics, as well as evidence of electronics (suction cup mounts, power plugs, iPod adapters); completely close all windows and sunroofs; and do not leave gym bags, purses or backpacks in plain view.
Four businesses reported having their front doors smashed in Sunday morning.
The RCMP received calls from two businesses shortly after 2 a.m. on July 24. At approximately 11:30 a.m. another two businesses reported their front doors had been shattered as well.
None of the businesses – Taste of Tuscany, Tommy Gun’s Original Barber Shop, the Yuzen Japanese Restaurant and Barbershop Boyz – reported any stolen items.
