Police in Morinville are asking for the public’s help to identify a man they say broke into mailboxes in a condo and stole the contents. In the early morning of Feb. 24, between 3:50 a.m. and 4:40 a.m.

Police in Morinville are asking for the public’s help to identify a man they say broke into mailboxes in a condo and stole the contents.

In the early morning of Feb. 24, between 3:50 a.m. and 4:40 a.m., the man broke into the Morinville Condo apartment complex at the corner of 99 Avenue and 107 Street He pried open mailboxes and stole mail.

He’s described as being about five-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 210 lbs. to 230 lbs. He has brown hair and was wearing a camouflage coat during the break-in.

Morinville RCMP say he is also suspected of trying to break into vehicles in the building’s underground parking lot.

A 26-year-old transient man has been arrested in Morinville for smashing the window of a police car.

Morinville RCMP say the incident took place around 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 24, in the detachment parking lot.

They say a lone male went into the parking lot with a hammer and tried to smash the read window of a marked police car. He was unsuccessful, but then managed to smash the front passenger side window.

Police say they have arrested a 26-year-old man of no fixed address, thanks in part to help from members of the public. The matter is still under investigation.

St. Albert residents should be careful to lock their doors and windows after a suspicious man walked through an unlocked door into a house while the resident was there.

RCMP said that on Feb. 16 at around 9:10 p.m., a woman phoned police to say she had just confronted an unknown man inside her house on Lester Crescent. The man said he was in the wrong house and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, about six-feet, two-inches tall, with a slim build, brown heard, and wearing thick-rimmed glasses.

No one was hurt as a result of this incident, and police have been unable to find the man.

Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a stolen bicycle.

Some time between 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 7, a Huffy Moose Fat Tire 26” bicycle was stolen from the Mac’s convenience store on Sir Winston Churchill Avenue just north of Levasseur Road in the city’s southwest.

The owner left it locked up overnight, and it was gone the next day.
