The St. Albert RCMP has released images of a man who is believed to have stolen a taxi just before Christmas.
At around 1:50 a.m. on Dec. 21, police received a complaint of a stolen taxi cab from the 7-Eleven store on Atkins Drive. The driver was in the store, and saw a mid-sized silver car pull up with one male inside.
A man in the store then walked outside, got into the taxi and drove away while the silver car followed it.
The taxi was found three days later on Gate Avenue. RCMP enquiries have so far failed to identify the suspect.
Police have also released images of a man they say stole credit cards from Servus Place in December.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., a man walked into the locker room area at Servus Place and broke into a locked locker in the swimming pool family change area. Two credits cards and a driver’s licence were stolen.
The suspect then bought $2,000 worth of merchandise at three drug stores in St. Albert and Edmonton before the credit card companies could cancel the cards.
Police are looking for a man described as Caucasian, about 40 years old, between five-foot-10 and six feet tall, and about 190 lbs. He was wearing a red Nike ball cap, a grey hoodie and black jacket, black pants and black shoes.
St. Albert police continue to investigate a January home invasion and stabbing in the Woodlands neighbourhood, and are still asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect.
A couple was woken at 4 a.m. on Jan. 20 to find an intruder in their home, who then stabbed them both. In initial reports the man was described as being large in stature, and police say he may have fled in a vehicle. No further description is being provided.
Police took DNA samples at the crime scene, but analysis could take weeks.
Cpl. Laurel Kading with the St. Albert RCMP said at this point, police aren’t releasing any more information and investigators won’t talk about investigational procedures or timelines.
RCMP are looking for the public’s help to identify whoever is responsible for recent vandalism.
Over the weekend of Feb. 5 to Feb. 8, someone damaged a window of a house on Grenfell Avenue in the Grandin neighbourhood. The homeowner believes it was shot with a BB gun because the window has a hole in it.
A window on Grosvenor Boulevard in the same neighbourhood was similarly damaged some time between early November of last year and Feb. 5 this year; a homeowner found a dime-sized hole in the outside glass of a window pane.
Anyone with information about these or any other crimes is asked to contact the RCMP at 780-458-7700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
