A new townhome development is underway in Oakmont.

Oakmont Townhomes will be located at 600 Bellerose Dr. The 103-unit development was launched June 11 and will feature a mix of two- to three-bedroom townhomes in a “park-like setting.”

Homes will be two to three storeys and start at 1,094 square-feet. Some models will have attached garages leading into finished or unfinished basements; others will have outdoor parking. Many will have individual backyards.

Residents will also have access to a central courtyard, which will feature seating areas and connect to existing walking trails.

Junior project manager Minjun Ku said Slokker Canada West wanted to maximize the amount of available green space.

“Our whole lot is an isosceles triangle. The buildings parameter that triangle, and we have another triangle with a lot of green space,” said Ku.

A ridge on the east side of the site will overlook Sturgeon County and the Sturgeon River.

Servicing of the land is currently underway. Construction of the first six-unit building is expected to begin shortly.

Construction will be done in two separate phases. Phase 1, which will begin shortly, will see the erection of six buildings. Buildings will be made up of between five and seven units.

The remainder of the 17 buildings will be constructed in Phase 2. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.

The show home opened earlier this summer and the developer has begun presales. Ku said so far three units have been sold, despite a “tough” real estate market.

Prices of Oakmont Townhomes range from $280,000 to $380,000.

Slokker originated in the Netherlands. The developer’s western Canadian division, Slokker Canada West, has built multi-family developments in Edmonton, Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane and High River.
