Morinville RCMP seek two men in early morning shooting

A 30-yr-old victim has been taken by air ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Morinville RCMP are looking for two men and a 30-year-old victim has been airlifted to a nearby hospital after an early morning shooting incident nearly Lily Lake Resort.

Morinville RCMP received a 911 call of a firearms complaint involving an individual who had been shot in Sturgeon County at 2:30 a.m. this morning, RCMP said in a statement released today.

A 30-yr-old victim has been taken by air ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. The condition of the victim is currently unknown, according to RCMP.

RCMP asked residents in the area of Lily Lake Resort to shelter in place around 6 a.m., and there was a heavy police presence in the area of Lily Lake Resort west of Redwater, as officers continued to investigate. 

The public was asked to refrain from posting photos and videos on social media.

Morinville RCMP lifted the shelter in place just before 9 a.m. this morning, but continue to have a presence in the area as they investigate.

Police are looking for two persons of interest in this case. Both are described as male, in their mid 20s, one with blonde hair and the other wearing a ski mask.

No further information has been released at this time.
