Morinville RCMP at scene of fatal collision

Morinville RCMP are at the scene of a fatal collision in Sturgeon County and will remain at the scene to investigate for the next several hours.

RCMP are calling the collision, which occurred on Highway 28, one kilometre north of Anthony Henday, a potential pedestrian hit-and-run fatality, according to an RCMP press release sent on Saturday morning.

RCMP anticipate remaining at the scene for several hours while they investigate the circumstances of this incident, according to the RCMP statement.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction, and RCMP are asking people to avoid the area.

Morinville RCMP are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, which occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 26, 2022.

Information about the deceased will not be released until the person's next of kin have been notified.
