The St. Albert Merchants may never lose again.
A third of the way through the 2023-2024 Capital Junior Hockey League season and the closest the Merchants have come to a tight game have been a few two goal leads, and the Blue Guys will be looking to keep their historic season going with two divisional games this weekend.
Tonight the Merchants will host the North Edmonton Red Wings at Jarome Iginla Arena in St. Albert, with puck drop scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
It'll be just the second contest between the Red Wings and the home-town favourites this year, as the Merchants won the previous match-up 7-1 back in September.
The Red Wings, led offensively by Brady Kulak and Dylan Knapton, have the third best win-loss record in the league (11-5-1).
On Sunday night the Merchants will head to Edmonton to take on the Edmonton Mustangs at Bill Hunter Arena. The game is set to start at 8:00 p.m.
The Mustangs, 5-11, are one of the few teams who have put up a good fight against the Merchants this year as the home-town team won 4-2 last month when the two teams squared off.
Merchants captain Dylan McFatridge is still leading the team in points with 31, while forwards Nico Gallo and Brett Reiter lead the team in goals and assists respectively.
Reiter's 22 assists on the year currently leads the league heading into the weekend.
