A Sunday fundraising event will attempt to fit the most feel-good experiences into three hours in order to empower women and provide them with options for living a healthier life.

The Style and Beauty Circle fundraiser is in support of Edmonton-based Suit Yourself, an organization that supports underprivileged women returning to the workforce by providing them clothes for job interviews and placements.

The fundraiser will be held Sunday at the Enjoy Centre.

“We empower women through presentations by experts in various fields,” said event founder Shirley Borrelli. “But this particular event focuses on fashion and fitness and the theme this time is to empower women with options for living a healthier life.”

The event will start at noon, giving attendees an hour to browse local and regional vendors with tray tables of jewelry, and health and skin care products.

Presentations will start at 1 p.m., with a talk on bio-identical hormone replacement by Ron Brown of St. Albert-based True Balance Health and Beauty Clinic, followed by a talk on healthy food choices by a representative from Amaranth Whole Foods Market.

Other presentations will include talks on nutritional supplements, yoga practices, makeover tips, and a personal trainers’ weight loss story and tips for becoming physically active. The event will end with a fashion show by Lole, an activewear clothing store for women based out of West Edmonton Mall.

“People perceive us by how we present ourselves,” said Borrelli. “Clothes is one piece of the answer of communicating with others.”

Tickets cost $45 plus tax and can be purchased online or at the door. The price includes free drinks and snacks during a 20-minute intersession between presentations.

More information can be found at stylebeautycircle.com. The event will be held at the Enjoy Centre’s Park Room on Sunday, Jan. 19.
