Nathan Tucker, 27, currently in custody at Bowden Institution serving time for a break-in, was handed two new sentences on Nov. 5.

Tucker, who appeared by closed circuit TV, had pleaded guilty to a Sturgeon County residential break-in on Nov. 10, 2017. The house was undergoing renovations and no one was home when the offender stole guns, long rifles, laptops and assorted items.

Tucker broke into a second residential home in Sherwood Park on Oct. 9, 2019, when the homeowners were on vacation. Tucker entered the residence and stole a violin, laptop, jewelry and spare keys to a rental home.

RCMP discovered cigarette butts at both residences. DNA analysis linked the cigarettes to Tucker.

Judge T.W. Achtymichuk authorized a sentence of seven months for each charge to be served consecutively. Tucker must also provide a DNA sample, forfeit all items from criminal acts and undergo a weapons prohibition, including all firearms and explosives, for 10 years after he has finished serving his sentence.
