While many St. Albertans will already have their plates full this Thanksgiving, here are four events taking place in the community this weekend.
1. Final Farmers' Market of the season
The last Farmers' Market of the 2023 season is happening on Saturday. The Market will be open during its usual hours, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..
Market lovers can rejoice though, as this year's Christmas Market at the Enjoy Centre is scheduled for four straight Saturdays starting Nov. 25.
2. Endeavour Brewing's Comedy Night
Those looking for a good laugh can head to Endeavour Brewing in Campbell Business Park on Saturday night for a stand-up comedy performance by Charles Haycock.
Haycock, an Edmonton resident, recently auditioned for the latest season of America's Got Talent, and has previously performed on CBC Comedy and the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal.
Haycock is set to take the Endeavour stage at 8:00 p.m., however attendees are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes early to get a seat.
Tickets can be purchased online here.
3. The Leo Martinez Project at the Thirsty Rooster
Edmonton-based musician Leo Martinez is set to play at the Thirsty Rooster Pub on St. Albert Trail on Saturday evening starting at 8:00 p.m.
Martinez, known to play guitar and bass drum simultaneously, while singing, got his start as a musician playing bass for a salsa band. Since then, Martinez has become a regular in the Edmonton and area music scene.
Last summer Martinez was the focal point of a viral video when, while stuck in a traffic jam during a drive to Kelowna, Martinez serenaded those in the same boat with a cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song.
4. Buddy Holly tribute concert at the Arden Theatre
Vancouver's Zachary Stevenson will be performing a matinee tribute to Buddy Holly at the Arden Theatre on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Stevenson, called the “dead ringer for dead singers” by the Victoria Times Colonist, previously won a Joseph Jefferson Award from the Chicago, Illinois, theatre community for his portrayal of Buddy Holly during a run of the Buddy Holly Story in 2018.
“With his own unique performing style, humour and an impressive repertoire of knowledge about Buddy, Zachary will leave you captivated and entertained throughout the entire performance,” the City of St. Albert's website states.
Tickets start at $59 and can be purchased online here.
