A house fire in Morinville destroyed one home and damaged neighbouring properties.
The Morinville fire department received a call about the fire at 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 24 and arrived to find that the fire had engulfed the home at 104 Ave and 97 St. and threatened adjacent structures, according to an email from a town spokesperson.
The family who lived in the home escaped safely.
The fire melted siding on some neighbouring structures.
“The initial knockdown of the fire was completed by approx. 3:30 a.m., with further fire suppression activities continuing into the morning,” an email from a Morinville spokesperson said. “Crews were able to quickly contain the fire.”
The Morinville Fire Department received assistance from fire departments in Gibbons and Legal.
Because the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the Morinville fire department and RCMP could not share any further details.
