The April 28 Environment File said, “the swamp sparrow is usually seen and not heard, as was the case at this event.” The reporter meant to write, “heard and not seen” because the bird is tough to identify visually, but has a distinctive jackhammer-like call that was heard at the event. The Gazette apologizes to swamp sparrows for the confusion.
