Local RCMP officers have charged a 22-year-old man with drug trafficking following a raid at a Lacombe Park home last week.

Jamie Paul Martial has been charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Police executed the search warrant at 73 Larose Drive last week, searching both the home and car outside, and seized $1,700 in cash, a small amount of marijuana and a host of items associated with the cocaine trafficking trade.

St. Albert RCMP Const. Janice Schoepp said even though officers didn’t find any actual cocaine in the home, they have enough evidence to support the charges.

“They didn’t find any cocaine, but with the information they received and the evidence they have were confident they could lay the charges.”

There were five adults in the home when it was searched and Schoepp said charges against two of the people are still pending, while the other two have been released.

Martial was released on cash bail with a series of conditions including a strict curfew and a requirement he not own or use a cellphone.

He will make his first court appearance on Monday at the St. Albert courthouse.
