Earth is moved on an empty lot in Campbell Business Park. The property at 301 Carleton Drive will be the future home of a 13,000 square feet, mixed-use building, said Raj Aggarwal with Edmonton-based development firm Royal Properties.
“It will be a retail and light industrial building. Five bays will be light industrial and the rest will be more of a retail type,” he said.
While five of the bays have already sold, Aggarwal did not comment on who was moving in. Possible renters for the four retail bays would be of the soup and sandwich or coffee shop type, he said. There could also be an electrical supplier or repair shop moving into one of the light industrial bays, he said.
Individual bays are between 1,200 and 1,500 square feet in size, and come at a minimum cost of $250 per square foot. The building, constructed by local contractor Johnston Builders, is expected to be completed by March or April 2014.
After 11 years on St. Thomas Street, a health store in downtown St. Albert recently moved to a new home down the road. Healthy Solutions is now located at 14 Perron St., next to the Candy Bouquet.
The store sells natural herbs and supplements, teas, oils and body care products. But owner Jean Dansereau, a master herbalist for 34 years, said they primarily specialize in helping people with energy, stress, sleep, weight and nutritional issues.
“We teach our customers how to stay healthy with the seasons, what to eat, and how to follow seasonal changes and which herbs to eat when … how to eat differently and more in balance,” he said.
Danserau said the move came somewhat unexpectedly after their former landlord terminated their lease. But the new location provides them with a great opportunity to re-launch their business and better exposure, he said.
While Dansereau offers health assessments and nutritional guidance, his wife Gina, a hairstylist and make-up artist, consults on beauty questions or concerns.
Healthy Solutions also offers consultations and treatments with a massage therapist, a reflexologist and an expert in Jin Shin Do – a form of acupuncture that uses pressure points instead of needles to treat ailments. A one-hour consultation or treatment costs between $60 and $75.
