Karrie’s Kostumes and Dance Supplies has taken over the old Salvation Army location on Gervais Road.

The move occurred over the summer and was completed in July. The 7,000-square-foot retail operation is now located all on one level and is much easier to navigate says owner Karrie Velhurst.

The costumes that were previously located in the upstairs portion of the building are now located in the previous 4,000-square-foot Salvation Army space. Costumes are divided into areas and spaced out along the walls, making the store easier to navigate.

“Basically it’s more organized and more boutique-looking,” said Velhurst. “Before, I had so much upstairs and it wasn’t spaced out like we have it now – it’s just a better floorplan that the customer will love.”

The makeup counter, offering theatre, dance and personal makeup, will be double the size. Makeup artists will still be available for tutorials.

Karrie’s Kostumes has been located in St. Albert for 25 years, and has been serving the Edmonton area for 34. The store sells costumes year-round, as well as dance supplies. Costume rentals are still available.

The casual and industrial apparel and footwear retailer opened a new location in the St. Albert Centre.

The 20,000 square foot store opened its doors Friday, July 29 and replaces the location on St. Albert Trail.

The new store will operate Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be a three-day in-store grand opening event featuring exclusive promotions and offers from Aug. 26 to 28.
