Two people are facing charges after a series of armed liquor store robberies, including one in St. Albert.

The duo are facing charges after police reported there were five violent, armed robberies, with four in Edmonton and one in St. Albert.

Weapons and violence were used indiscriminately in each of the robberies, with cash and alcohol being targeted, Edmonton police say.  Some store clerks and customers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday May 10, Edmonton Police Service robbery officers conducted two search warrants in northwest Edmonton and located one of the firearms (an air pistol) used in the robberies, along with stolen property and robbery-related clothing.

Robert Cardinal, 28, and Charmaine Bunn, 28, of Edmonton are facing multiple robbery and weapon-related offences.

"Intelligence sharing between police forces is crucial in solving these multi-jurisdictional events. We appreciate the hard work of all officers and criminal intelligence analysts involved to bring this robbery series investigation to a successful conclusion,” said Sgt. Rob Butz, of the St. Albert RCMP.

The Gazette will have more to come.
