A jury has found Beryl Musila guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Ron Worsfold

Worsfold, 75, was killed in July 2017 and his body was found in a Rubbermaid container on a rural property in Parkland county.

Musila, who was self-represented, was on trial for eight weeks.

Throughout the trial, Crown prosecutors said Musila, now 34, drugged Worsfold and then beat him to death in his home with a hammer

Musila claimed she was sleeping on the couch the night of Worsfold's murder when a strange person came into the home, killed Worsfold and framed her.

Musila is slated to be sentenced in August

The Gazette will have more to come
