St. Albert city council, and residents, will get their first glimpse of next year's draft budget on Tuesday.

In April the Gazette reported that administration's preliminary forecast for next year's property tax increase was 4.8 per cent, mainly due to the need to sustain city service levels.

On Tuesday, council will hear a presentation about next year's draft budget from the city's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bill Fletcher, after which council will determine the necessary dates to meet to discuss and decide on any budget changes.

Last year council needed just two meetings to make changes to the budget, although over 40 motions were debated.

The Gazette will have significant coverage of the draft budget, as well as council's reactions, online and in the Thursday, Oct. 26, edition of the newspaper.
