Television has never lacked for talent. It becomes even more exciting when someone from our hometown is on the small screen.

St. Albert singer-songwriter-actor Alex Zaichkowski, 18, is back in our life as one of the lead characters in Family Channel’s Lost & Found Music Studios.

Lost & Found first appeared in Dec. 2015 as a half-hour tween series that delves into the lives of a group of high school age musicians in an afterschool music program.

They are discovering their musical identities while dealing with personal issues such as booking gigs, teen crushes, peer pressure, bumpy home lives and generally trying to fit in.

Zaichkowski’s character, John, has just lost his mother. He is struggling with her death, and the gregarious, fun-loving guy who loves music has become withdrawn.

“Her death affects him greatly. He’s experiencing her loss and is still reeling from it. And he has a strained relationship with his dad. They don’t really understand each other,” said Zaichkowski.

Despite all the hints and teases about the new episodes screening in January, there’s a degree of mystery surrounding her death. Both Zaichkowski and Family Channel are tight-lipped about spoiling details.

Even the lovely Michelle, who is trying to develop a relationship with him, has her work cut out.

“It’s very complicated. He’s into her. She knows he’s into her. But he’s still a broken person and he’s fumbling through relationships. He doesn’t know how to react with people.”

In his downtime from filming in 2016, Zaichkowski released a five-track EP under the pseudonym Havelin, an adaptation from a family name.

The title track, Alright, Alright, Okay was written at a time Zaichkowski was uncomfortable with who he was.

“I felt like I was wearing someone else’s skin.”

At the time they were just words put to paper with no thought of recording. As he grew more comfortable writing songs, the stories took on new meanings and became part of his toolkit.

Born in June, Zaichkowski is the quintessential Gemini reflecting two sides of his artistic nature – acting and music.

Catch the second half of season one’s Lost & Found Music Studios starting Jan. 13. It runs on Family Channel every Friday at 5:30 p.m.
