St. Albert artists snag Canadian Country Music Award nominations

Dan Davidson, Travis Nesbitt, Hailey Benedict and Greg Williamson are in line to pick up hardware

The 2025 Canadian Country Music Association award nominees have been revealed, and four St. Albert artists are up for the coveted hardware.

Recording artist Dan Davidson is nominated in the Country Personality of the Year category alongside Stella Stevens for their CFCW morning show.

The multi-talented Davidson also received a second nomination in the Musical Collaboration of the Year category for Won’t Forget. His co-writers for this high-flying single are Tim Hicks and Max Jackson.

Won’t Forget has also netted Travis Nesbitt a nomination for Video Director of the Year. Nesbitt was at one time lead singer for Social Code, a St. Albert rock band that developed a strong presence across Canada.

Hailey Benedict, who just released the single Carl Dean, a tribute to Dolly Parton’s husband, is nominated in the Female Artist of the Year category. Also vying for the top prize are Madeline Merlo, Jess Moskaluke, MacKenzie Porter and Sacha. The St. Albert singer-songwriter has released a string of attention-getting singles including Things My Mama Says, Damn You July and Wanted You To

The CCMA also tips its hat to Greg Williamson in Drummer of the Year category. The local musician and writer, best known for his pivotal work with Tupelo Honey, has achieved more than two decades experience playing  rock and country music.

The awards show takes place on Sept. 13 from Prospera Place in Kelowna. Hosted by Tom Green, the broadcast will stream live at 8 p.m. EST on CTV, CTV.ca and the CTV app.
