THE GUARDIANS – Grade 11 St. Albert Catholic High School student Mary Babichuk won this year's Elsa Zahar Award for her energetic multimedia work called The Guardians. As part of the award, she will have her work on display at the Arden Theatre's youth gallery space for the rest of the summer. The Guardians will also be showcased in the ACAD Show OFF exhibit this summer from July 7 to 14.

Musée Héritage Museum

Take Your Best Shot is the museum’s annual youth photo exhibit. This year's theme is My St. Albert. The works will appear alongside a feature wall of images by one of St. Albert’s renowned professional photographers, Victor Post. Until Sun., Aug. 12.

The new rotation of artworks is now on display for the Edmonton Arts Council's third annual public art project. Look for new works on various billboard and LRT poster locations throughout the capital city. VASA artist Rick Rogers' work Interdependence can be found on an Edmonton billboard at 50 Street south of 72 Avenue on the east side facing north. A new set of the limited edition #YEGCanvas trading cards will also be available at EAC events.

Upcoming events and news

THE WORKS Art & Design Festival is North America's largest free outdoor art and design festival. It will feature 50 exhibits at 30 venues throughout Edmonton's downtown and around the city, plus live performances on The Works Street Stage (Capital Plaza on the Alberta Legislature Grounds) from noon to 9:30 p.m. every day, and more than 300 special events including tours, receptions, and demonstrations. It runs from Thurs., June 21 to Tues., July 3. www.theworks.ab.ca

ArtWalk returns on Thursday, July 5 to locations both inside and outside all around the Perron District from 6 to 8:30 p.m. including many street artists. There are eight gallery locations including new spot Confections Cake Co. Future ArtWalk dates are Aug. 2 and Sept. 6. www.artwalkstalbert.com
