• Haunted Pumpkin Festival with maze, pumpkin cannon, folk music, magic shows, drumming circle, storytellers, shooting gallery, pedal carts and haunted house at Prairie Gardens, Bon Accord, Oct. 22 and 23 and 29 to 31. • Deadmonton Haunted House is stacked with chilling surprises. The experience is packed with intense audio, trick lighting, extreme low visibility, strobe lights, fog and special effects. Operates Oct. 22 to 31 at 10233 Jasper Ave. Ticket prices $20 and $25. Speed pass is $40. Recommended for the 12-plus crowd. Visit deadmontonhouse.com for more information.

• Just how eerie is the Hospital of Horror virtual reality haunted house? Walk through the halls of an abandoned hospital never knowing what lurks. Perhaps frights, spooks or the undead. Just remember, this is the virtual world and the temporal laws of physics do not apply. Hospital of Horrors is open until Oct. 31 at 10010 – 107 A Ave. Tickets $25.

• SCTV’s Joe Flaherty returns to Fort Edmonton Park’s Capitol Theatre joining the award winning comedy troupe Die-Nasty for Scary Nasty: A Halloween Improv Special. Flaherty, Jeff Haslam, Donovan Workun, Wayne Jones and a coffin of the undead promise to frighten the life out of you on Thursday, Oct. 27. Advance tickets are $24, door tickets are $28. • Once again St. Albert Kinsmen present the third Night of Fear Festival on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29. Freaky Friday is the night of headless terror illusions, moonlight strolls in the graveyard, and an adult costume contest between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. The fun Saturday is a chance for kids to trick or treat, go on a scavenger hunt, decorate a pumpkin and enjoy a kids’ costume contest. Due to content, only children aged eight and older are advised to attend. Runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsmen Banquet Centre on Riel Drive.

• Halloween Howler, an 18-plus show at the Shaw Conference Centre on Friday, Oct. 28 features rock bands Bush and Theory of a Deadman. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster starting at $59.95.

• Fort Edmonton Park’s yearly Spooktacular journeys through the pages of Victorian era penny dreadfuls, sensational Gothic tales of adventure, crime and the supernatural on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Immediately following is the horror film Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe.

• Psychic medium Carmel Joy Baird wonders if anyone is brave enough to walk through the haunted barn at her River Lane Ranch on Oct. 28 and 29. Enjoy a D.J., bonfire and barbecue at 2222 – 137 Ave. Gate fee $20. Bring spirit friends.

• In Potted Potter all seven Harry Potter books (and a real life game of Quidditch) are condensed into 70 hilarious minutes. It features fave characters, a fire-breathing dragon, costumes, songs, silly props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. Two shows daily Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Myer Horowitz Theatre, 8900 –114 St. Tickets are $31.96 to $99.95. Visit ticketfly.com.

• As the spirit and earthly world prepare to collide, Arts on the Ave. will host the Headless Carrot Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 29. This evening for teens and young adults is held at the Carrot CafĂ© on 118 Ave. and brings together fire pits, marshmallows, music, games and spooky fun. Prizes for the best costume.

• Country band Amie Weymes and The Atta Boys jump into the Halloween spirit at LB’s Pub and Grill on Saturday, Oct. 29. Showtime is 9 p.m. at 23 Akins Dr.

• Crazy Dave’s Renegades are prepped to blow your mind with the best ’80s and ’90s rock and roll show on Oct. 29 and 30 at the Bourbon Room. Dress to impress for the Best Costume contest. Reserve a table. Call 587-290-0071.
