A Sterling winner
Two years ago playwright-actress Louise Casemore scooped up a Sterling Award for Outstanding Fringe New Work in OCD. Last Monday at the 31st annual Sterling Awards it was déjà vu.The Paul Kane High alumna received an award for writing Gemini, one of the top rated plays of the 2017 Edmonton Fringe Festival.
In addition to writing and producing the play under her company, Defiance Theatre, the multi-talented playwright co-starred in the two-hander with Vern Thiessen, artistic director of Workshop West.

Family Channel’s new series
Family Channel dives into summer with two new kids’ series airing Canada Day.Polly Pocket is a 60-minute special about Polly, a girl who inherits a locket from Grandma that magically shrinks her to four inches tall. It airs at 8:30 a.m.
Following at 10 a.m. is Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, a 90-minute tale about Jim Lake, an average high school student who yearns for adventure. He inadvertently receives a heavy dose after landing in a battle of good and evil with a civilization of mighty trolls.
