Dahlia's groove
A bit of rock. A bit of country. A dash of blues, and a distinct voice. Dahlia Wakefield and the Value Villains are playing at the Blind Pig Pub on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m.Wakefield, who also performs with Dirt Road Angels, features Alan Tymofichuk on guitar and Ben Samuels on drums. For this gig, bassist Jeff Godley replaces Steve McGonigle.
Since August 2014, the traditional configuration has been playing an enticing, high-energy, danceable mix of country, pop/rock, classic rock, and Top 40 hits. There is something for everyone and their many invitations to St. Albert prove it.

SkirtsAfire presents The Romeo Initiative
Local playwright Trina Davis just penned The Romeo Initiative and it premieres during SkirtsAfire Festival from March 1 to 11 at Alberta Avenue Community League.
The play is based on a real life psychological spy program targeting West German secretaries to determine their "perfect man." In the play an East German spy is sent to build a long-term relationship with his target.
The Romeo Initiative is half romance, half comedy and half spy thriller with a tantalizing twist.
Directed by Nancy McAlear, it stars Sarah Feutl, Heather Cant and Aaron Hursh.
Davis was lately honoured as a finalist for Canada's top literary prize, The Governor General's Literary Award for Drama.
