Artists for Life fundraiser
The 9th annual Artists for Life, in partnership with Winspear Centre, turns up the dial for an unforgettable night of music and entertainment on Saturday, May 26.The objective is to raise funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS victims and caregivers.
The headliner is Canadian performer Lindi Ortega, a support artist for Carrie Underwood and Chris Stapleton as well as a sought-after singer-songwriter on the Nashville scene.
In addition, Paul Kane High math teacher Daryl Price directs and conducts the Canadian premiere of I Am Harvey Milk. The concept opera weaves a story of Milk’s childhood to his rise as an openly gay politician in California to his assassination.
Price, a member of St. Albert Community Band and principal trumpet for Concordia Symphony Orchestra, conducts Ron Long and the Emerald Chorus.
The night also features performers DJ Queerbait and MAN UP! and drag artist Tequila Mockingbird.

Joyful Noise’s movie music
St. Albert’s Kieran Martin Murphy, musical theatre performer and PreTenor star, joins A Joyful Noise, the Thursday choir for a night of movie classics at Southminister-Steinhauer United Church on Saturday, May 26 at 7: 30 p.m.The repertoire includes songs of love and loss as well, rousing anthems from West Side Story, Les Misérables and The Mission.
