Joey Landreth and Altameda
Altameda, four of St. Albert’s top musicians, are opening for the much anticipated Joey Landreth Trio playing at the Arden Theatre on Jan. 18. For Altameda, it’s the start of a 15-date tour that criss-crosses the three most western provinces.Fuelled by Troy Snaterse’s songwriting and his emotive vocals, the band weaves roots, pop, rock and Americana into a one-of-a-kind energetic show.
Altameda is also releasing advance copies of Time Hasn’t Changed You now available @pheromonerecordings.

Warpaint tour
California rockers Buckcherry have announced leg one of their “Warpaint” North American tour. The trek begins in Sacramento on March 6 and reaches Edmonton’s Century Casino on March 10.Warpaint reunites Buckcherry with producer Mike Plotnikoff, who last worked on the hard rockers’ 2005 platinum certified album, 15.
Josh Todd, the frontman and co-founder, told Billboard Magazine, “I don’t want to put too much on it, like saying it’s one of our best records, but I truly believe that (it is).”
He paired up with guitarist Stevie D. writing more than 30 songs and whittling them down to 10 that worked.
Rock band Joyous Wolf opens for the Grammy Award nominated outfit during the first leg of the tour. Tickets are $59.95 plus GST at Century Casino and Ticketmaster.
Minerva – Queen of the Handcuffs
Ghost Writer Theatre presents the now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t world premiere of Minerva, Queen of the Handcuffs at Theatre Network from Jan. 17 to 27.Created by illusionist-magician Ron Pearson, it looks at the most famous female escape artist and her major rival, Harry Houdini. The premiere features Miranda Allen, Edmonton’s own master escape artist.
