Fringe tickets on sale

The 35th annual Edmonton International Fringe Festival launches its lineup today with splashy fanfare. Immediately at noon tickets will go on sale for the Aug. 11 to 21 extravaganza.

This year’s theme is That Was Then, This is Fringe and for 11 vibrant days, organizers are featuring buskers, outdoor performers, artisans and vendors.

But the major attraction is the more than 1,600 live theatre performances booked in 40 venues throughout Old Strathcona.

Shows range from $12 to $13. To purchase tickets visit fringetheatre.ca, call 780-409-1919 or drop by the Arts Barns ticket office.

Fringe goes mobile at St. Albert Farmers’ Market

In celebration of the Fringe’s 35th landmark year, it goes on the road for a series of engaging performances in and around Edmonton.

Local dance crew Rhythm Speaks will make its roving Fringe debut at the St. Albert Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m.

Rhythm Speaks is an Edmonton-based group that fuses dance styles from First Nations cultures with the full-throttle hip hop moves for a one-of-a-kind b-boying display.

The market is located at the crossroads of St. Anne Street and St. Thomas streets.

Edmonton Rock Music Fest

It’s only a week until the Edmonton Rock Music Fest gets set to pump out two days of spectacular concerts at Hawrelak Park Amphitheatre on Aug. 12 and 13.

This year’s major headliners are Randy Bachman, Kim Mitchell, Lou Gramm and The Voice of Foreigner. Joining the hit makers are 54-40, David Wilcox, Nick Gilder & Sweeney Todd, The Kirby Sewell Band and Rend.

Friday tickets are $55. Saturday tickets are $65 or $110 for a two-day pass. Visit edrocks.ca.
