Congratulations are in order for five St. Albert emerging artists that have received a Lieutenant-Governor Distinguished Young Arts Award.
Administered by the city, the awards are presented to Alyssa Kryger, Tyra Posty, Amanda Penner, Sian Godsmark and Nichola Stenzel.
Kryger received a $500 award and Posty was given $300, both to further their studies at the School of Alberta Ballet. Penner was presented $100 for Garage Band Camp Live.
Godsmark accepted $250 to attend the New York American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Nichola Stenzel also was presented with $250 to study at the Joffrey Ballet School.
Every year the Edmonton Chamber Music Society presents an annual concert of some of the world’s finest chamber music.
This year the society hosts special guests Chicago’s Fine Arts Quartet, Patricia Tao, Charles Richard-Hamelin, Robert Uchida, Charles Pilon, Rafael Hoekman, Jacque DesprĂ©s and many more.

Once again, the Bard rises at the 28th season of the Freewill Shakespeare Festival running June 21 to July 17 at the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park.
This year’s gems are Love’s Labour’s Lost, a comedy about three lords that swear off women until a few lovelies arrive at their island.
Running in repertory is Romeo and Juliet, one of the world’s greatest doomed love stories.
