Glitzy costumes, street dancing, soca bands and spicy cuisine – all the best of the Caribbean island vibe makes its way into Cariwest today and tomorrow.

The Cariwest parade starts marshalling its forces on Saturday, Aug. 6 at noon between 99 Avenue and 108 Street. It meanders down Jasper Avenue before settling at Sir Winston Churchill Square at the makeshift Caribbean Village packed with exotic dishes, an artisan market and non-stop entertainment.

The official Saturday Night Fete is back in a big way when the Trinidadian Queen of Bacchanal, Destra Garcia, performs in Edmonton for the first time. The iconic Bakanal Band backs her.

The fete takes place at Boyle Street Community League, 9538 – 103 A Ave. Tickets are available online at cariwest.ca.

Sunday is everyone’s kickback day imitating the easy-going island feel sipping some cool drinks and enjoying the lively spiced cuisine.
