MS affects more than 70,000 Canadians, one of the highest rates in the world. It has affected Aulden Maj-Pfleger his whole life. His mom, St. Albert writer Carla Maj was diagnosed when she was 22. Because of this, Aulden has made it his mission to never stop fighting – and biking – for a cure.

The young Christmas hamper program at Red Willow Community Church nearly died out this year after the economic downturn drove demand up while snuffing out its bank account. Thankfully, a resurgence in community support kept it going albeit with a smaller reach than originally hoped for.

Whatever the economy is doing right now, it doesn’t seem to have had much effect on the goodwill and charitable nature of the general populace at the moment. Several charity drives are reporting strong responses from the public.
