The expected influx of vaccine shots follows news on Friday that the millionth Canadian had received a first dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine.

The Public Health Agency of Canada released modelling suggesting that while infections continue to decline nationally, the spread of virus mutations threatens to reverse that progress.

Health Canada says provinces expecting deliveries of Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine can expect them to arrive at least a day behind schedule but all doses will be in the country by Friday.

However, Moderna's next shipment on Feb. 22 will now be only two-thirds of what it was supposed to be. Pfizer's deliveries will only meet the promised number of doses if medical professionals can adjust to extracting six doses instead of five from every vial.

To qualify as a "listed hotel," lodgings must be near one of the four airports currently accepting international flights – in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

With this week's new deliveries, there will be fewer than a quarter million doses of vaccine available to be injected this week.
