South of the border, our American cousins are beginning to stage mock battles in remembrance of the American Civil War, which began 150 years ago in April 1861.

May 1962 began with historic news for St. Albert that was greeted with some reservation. By order-in-council from the Minister of Municipal Affairs, the province announced it would rescind St.

St. Albert has seen a significant amount of aggressive campaigning over the last few years during the careful construction of a popular support base.

After going 11 years without a murder, April 2001 brought an end to that milestone. On April 2, the body of 22-year-old Robin Abialmouna was found in his condo at Whelehan Place on Perron Street.

In only two more days we will know who will be at the wheel of this big bus we call Canada. Two more days to pencil into your calendar the 20 minutes it will take to vote on May 2. This is the dilemma — most likely you won’t vote.

April 1995 saw the announcement of the construction of one of the most iconic structures in St. Albert. The city announced it would build the Perron Street clock tower at the corner of Perron Street and Sir Winston Churchill Avenue.

April 1986 saw St. Albert celebrating its 125th anniversary, and to honour the occasion MLA Myrna Fyfe enjoyed the privilege of moving the speech from the throne in the legislature.

All of Canada is a stage. The national stage is set and the script well known, ad nauseam, because it was previously leaked to the media. The players are familiar and, sadly, there are no understudies.
