James Coates of GraceLife Church pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching bail and was fined $1,500. However, a judge said the 35 days Coates had spent in custody would count as credit for the entire fine.

“Our primary focus is to keep wildlife and people safe in this situation – that’s why we have the closure in place.”

The bill calls for designated offenders to be banned for life from changing their names, even if the designation is eventually removed.
